‘An exhilarating combination of performance and practicality’ is what British car maker Bentley is promising in what it is calling ‘the fastest four-seat convertible in the world’.

The Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible, powered by a 616bhp, 6-litre W12 engine with eight-speed transmission, has a top speed of 325kph and can accelerate from 0-100kph in 4.4seconds.

The luxury car manufacturer says ‘an engaging, sensory driving experience with coupe-like refinement’ is on offer in its new permanent all-wheel drive performance flagship convertible.

The hand-crafted Mulliner Driving Specification interior comes as standard, with a range of wood veneers and a carbon fibre centre console and fascia finish available as options.

Infotainment features include point of interest mapping, live traffic data and digital radio. The system has 15GB of music space, as well as a six-disc CD changer, SD card slot and MP3 facility. The audio output also adjusts automatically when the roof is lowered.

Bentley Chairman and Chief Executive Dr Wolfgang Schreiber said: ‘Following the recent successful introduction of the GT Speed, the new GT Speed Convertible will appeal to drivers who seek the sensory thrills of the world’s fastest four-seat soft-top and the practicality of a year-round grand tourer, together with unrivalled levels of luxury and refinement.

‘It is designed for those who accept no compromise.’

The Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible will make its international debut later this month at the Detroit Auto Show.
