The new BMW 1 Series is expected to go on sale in Ireland at the end of March.

Available in both three- and five-door models, the new generation boasts ‘interior and exterior design enhancements’, as well as an ‘increased level of standard specification’.

BMW says the driver-focused cockpit in the new model is an ‘even more welcoming, sporty, comfortable place to sit’ because of the design and materials used.

In addition to new cloth fabric upholstery, a new cloth/leather combination will also be available.

The BMW Radio Professional and iDrive operating system are standard in the new 1 Series and a Professional Navigation system is optional.

A choice of petrol and diesel engines will be available, with BMW saying new engines reduce fuel consumption by up to 12 per cent while also providing ‘more power and sharper responses’.

Standard equipment in the new 1 Series includes remote control central locking, electric window controls, automatic air conditioning, auto lights and wipers as well as keyless engine ignition.

Cruise control, Adaptive cruise control, parking sensors and lane departure warning are among the optional features.

The new BMW 1 Series is due in Ireland on March 28. Prices for the 3-door model start from €30,050, with prices for the 5-door starting from €30,840.
