Prices for the all new Skoda Fabia start from €13,895

The new Skoda Fabia arrives in Ireland on December 1, with prices starting from €13,895.

The new model is not as long as the outgoing one, but Skoda says it still manages to have ‘class leading luggage capacity’.

It’s also shorter and wider than its predecessor, ‘providing a lower stance and improved road presence’. And it’s also lighter, which helps increase fuel efficiency.

The new model also brings with it a new line-up of petrol and diesel engines, with both manual and automatic transmissions. The entry to the range is the petrol 1.0-litre MPI, 60bhp.

The MirrorLink infotaiment system will be offered as an option. It provides Sat Nav and music through the car via the driver’s smartphone.

Head of Marketing at Skoda Ireland, Raymond Leddy said the Fabia is ‘a completely new car’.

He added: ‘It is not a facelift but is entirely new inside and out, utilising the latest engines and technologies to provide the best Fabia ever.

‘Our new 1.0-litre, 60bhp petrol unit delivers surprising performance with superior acceleration and economy when compared to the comparable engine offered in the previous model.’

He added that the new Fabia was originally scheduled for a 2015 launch but it was decided to bring it forward to ‘meet the demands of customers who want to place orders for delivery in January’.
