First Tuesday in February top used car sales day

Most new vehicles are sold in the first three months of the year

Tuesday is the most popular day to buy or sell a used car, data from Cartell.ie has shown.

The result is based on analysis of daily transaction figures for used vehicles over the past four years.

The first Tuesday in February was the most popular day overall to buy a used car over the four years.

Cartell.ie puts this down to the fact that most new vehicles are sold in the first three months of the year because of the Irish registration system.

Meanwhile, the report found that Saturday is the worst day for vehicle transactions, confirming the trade view that while many people view vehicles on Saturday, very few sales are concluded.

Director of Cartell.ie, Jeff Aherne said: “If you take the top 10 days of the year for vehicle sales nine of the top 10 are Tuesdays.”
