McLaren has released the first video footage of its new 12C Spider in action in the mountainous Andalucía region of Southern Spain.

With Automotive Test Driver and British Touring Car Championship star Mat Jackson behind the wheel, the cinema quality video shows viewers just why McLaren believes it has created a sports car that gives ‘open-top thrills’ to a package of Formula 1-inspired technology.

The film starts with a Volcano Red 12C Spider in high speed action on track, before it crosses to the winding mountain roads of Andalucía.

The movie is aimed at underlining the McLaren 12C Spider as ‘a luxury convertible sports car offering a spectacular combination of performance and usability’.

Unique to the 12C Spider is that it can be converted from coupe to roadster in less than 17 seconds, while the car is in motion. It can accelerate from 0-100kph in 3.1seconds.

McLaren Automotive Managing Director, Antony Sheriff said: ‘We know 12C drivers love the Formula 1 technology DNA that runs throughout their cars.

‘With the 12C Spider, owners will have an even greater opportunity to create their perfect driving experience. Top up or top down, the sports car with highest performance among the
competition just became even more breathtaking.’

The new 12C Spider is now available to order.
