The new Ford Kuga has more technology than ever before offered in a Ford car in Europe

Ford’s famed self opening boot will be available in the new Ford Kuga, which will reach Irish shores later this month.

The new Kuga is full to the brim of new technology, and is also greener than the outgoing model.

The innovative hands free tailgate, which leads to a larger luggage compartment, opens or closes when you wave your foot under the rear bumper, once you have the car key on your person.

The new Ford Kuga also features Curve Control, which corrects understeer if a driver goes into a bend too fast.

Ford says its new Kuga also offers class leading fuel efficiency, with the diesel engine 10 per cent better in this regard that the previous one.

The new Ford Kuga will be available in both manual and automatic transmissions

The new Ford Kuga will be available in a 2.0 TDCi 140PS or 163PS engine, in both 2WD and 4WD. The manual transmission will be a six-speed one, with an automatic gearbox also available.

Two trims will be on offer – Zetec and Titanium, with cruise control, heated windscreen, daytime running lights, leather steering wheel with remote audio controls just some of the features offered as standard on the entry level model.

Meanwhile, move up to the Titanium spec and you also get auto lights and wipers, dual control air conditioning, Sony radio/CD and Ford SYNC connectivity, among other features.

Ford Ireland managing director Eddie Murphy said the new Ford Kuga has the most technology it has ever offered in Europe.

He added: ‘The new Kuga retains the charisma of the previous model and adds remarkable new technologies, features and capability.’

The new Ford Kuga will be available from €33,450. Further pricing details will be announced closer to its Irish launch.
