A host of new technologies will be available in the new Opel Corsa

The all new Opel Corsa will be unveiled to the world at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Opel says the fifth generation Corsa ‘aims to offer a new driving experience in the small-car market segment by raising the bar for chassis, engine and gearbox performance’.

As well as mirroring the new Opel family look externally, the new Corsa also has a completely new interior with ‘enhanced quality and spaciousness’.

Opel says the cabin is spacious enough to seat five comfortably.

A plethora of advanced safety and driving aids will also be available, including bi-xenon headlamps, Opel Eye front camera with Lane Departure Warning, Road Sign Recognition, High Beam Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Following Distance Indication and Side Blind Spot Alert.

The self parking Advanced Park Assist is also on offer in the new Corsa, as well as Hill Start Assist and a Rear View Camera.

All new Corsas will also equipped with City driving mode, which allows for reduced steering effort at low speeds. The car is also compatible with Opel’s FlexFix bicycle carrier.

Opel’s IntelliLink infotainment technology will also be available. It can be voice operated and is compatible with Android and Apple devices. Bluetooth and Siri Eyes Free can also be used.

Apps include BringGo for navigation, as well as TuneIn and Stitcher for podcasts and internet radio. There is also a FlexDock smartphone parking and charging station.

The new Opel Corsa will be fitted with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo engine and will be available in both three-door and five-door models.

Managing director of Opel Ireland, Dave Sheeran said: ‘The Opel Corsa has always had an enduring appeal with Irish customers of every age due to its reliability, looks and added value that the Corsa provides.

‘We are carrying the core appeal forward in the new Corsa. Thanks to many new technologies, we are also offering a driving experience that will make driving effortless while also significantly raising standard in this vehicle class.’

Irish specifications and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
