Renault’s new urban crossover, the Renault Captur is expected in Irish dealerships on July 1.

The French car manufacturer describes the Captur as ‘a unique blend of MPV, SUV and family hatchback’ and says it hopes the Captur will ‘bring a welcome splash of colour and glamour’ to the crossover segment.

Two engines will be available in Ireland from launch – the Energy TCe 90 S&S and the Energy dCi 90 S&S engine, with a dCi 90 EDC engine arriving next year.

Two trim levels will be available in Ireland – Life and Intense. Standard specification includes cruise control with speed limiter, electric windows, Bluetooth connectivity, hands-free key card, automatic climate control and leather steering wheel, as well as Hill Start Assist and 16” alloy wheels.

Renault Ireland believes the Intense spec will be the most popular here. It comes with
the 7” touch screen MediaNav, USB port, foglights with corner lighting, removable upholstery and an optional two-tone body colour with contrasting wing mirror and roof colour. Black, ivory or orange 17” alloys are also available on the Intense.

Drivers with young children or a dog will be delighted to hear that seat covers in the Renault Captur are removable, wipeable and washable.

The dual height boot floor in the 377 litre boot has a reversible cover (carpet on one side and rubber on the other) and the boot space can be extended to 455 litres by removing the cover and to 1,235 litres by folding the rear seats.

The Renault Captur is expected in Ireland on July 1 and further specification details, as well as prices, will be released closer to that date.
