Prices and specification for the new model will be announced closer to launch

The new Seat Leon ST Cupra will be premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in March, ahead of its Irish launch in the summer.

The high performance estate model follows the hugely popular Seat Leon Cupra hatchback. Seat says it ‘combines all the performance of the CUPRA with the versatility of the ST estate model’.

Just one model will be available in Ireland – the top of the range 2.0 TSI 280bhp petrol. The DSG (automatic) can accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.0seconds, with an acceleration time of 6.1seconds in the manual.

Top speed is limited to 250kph. A 154g/CO2 figure puts the DSG into the €390 annual road tax bracket, with the manual’s 157g tipping it up to the €570 bracket.

The estate model has a maximum load space of 1,470litres .

In a statement, Seat Ireland said: ‘ As with its hatchback sibling, highlights include the DCC dynamic chassis control, the front differential lock, the progressive steering, and the CUPRA Drive Profile.’

An optional Performance Pack comprising larger Brembo brake callipers, specific wheels and special tyres will be available.

Seat Ireland’s head of marketing, Neil Dalton said the new Leon ST Cupra ‘shows the Seat brand values at their best’.

He added: ‘The new Leon ST Cupra is the perfect complement to our high-performance model line-up.

‘The combination of refined performance and expressive dynamics with relaxed long-distance comfort and compelling utility make it utterly unique.’

Irish prices and specification will be announced closer to launch.
