The Peugeot 208 promises to be both smaller on the outside, yet bigger inside

Sporty and athletic is the look Peugeot is going for with the launch later this year of its newest super-mini, the 208.

Adopting the new Peugeot style lines of the 508 and facelift 308, the Peugeot 208 features a floating grille, newly sculpted lights and boomerang rear lamps.

The new 208 also manages to be smaller on the outside, yet roomier on the inside, with a completely new look interior.

Four engine sizes will be available in Ireland, ranging from a 1l petrol model to a 1.4l diesel.

The 208 will be available in both three-door and five door hatchback in three trims, Access, Active and Allure.

Some 80 per cent of sales are expected to be in the mid-range Active trim, with the petrol engine expected to be the most popular.

Peugeot Sales and Marketing director, Des Cannon said it hopes to register 300 units between July and December this year, with a target of 1,200 units in 2013.

He added: ‘Peugeot’s new 208 will indeed boost our market share to over 4 per cent next year.’

The new Peugeot 208 goes on sale in Ireland on June 30, with prices and standard spec to be confirmed closer to that date.
