Irish drivers will next week get a peek at what Volkswagen has in store in the electric vehicle market as the Volkswagen Golf Blue-e-Motion makes its Irish debut at the Fully Charged 2012 International Electric Vehicle Summit.

Members of the public will get a chance to test drive a Golf Blue-e-Motion and to interact with the latest electric vehicle technology at the Fully Charged event, which is being held in The National Convention Centre in Dublin on July 11.

Volkswagen is due to enter the Irish market with electric vehicles at the end of next year.

As part of the summit, a panel of high profile international speakers will provide an insight into the latest developments in electric vehicles and will discuss the successes and strides being made across the electric vehicle spectrum.

Innovations in new product development and emerging technologies, as well as the latest electric vehicles will also be showcased.

The event is being hosted by ESB ecars, which is responsible for the roll-out of Ireland’s electric vehicle infrastructure and the supporting IT/communications systems.

Encouraging members of the public to test drive the Golf Blue-e-Motion, Brand Director of Volkswagen Ireland, John Donegan said: ‘Like any new technology there is a re-assurance factor required by the consumer and we believe that getting behind the wheel of the Golf and interacting with the Volkswagen Blue-e-Motion staff will go a long way to addressing any concerns or queries.’

The Golf Blue-e-Motion Roadshow will also be visiting a number of dealerships in Dublin following the Fully Charged event.
