The new Audi A3 Cabriolet will be on Irish roads in mid-March
Audi is already turning its attention to the lazy, hazy days of summer with the release of details of the new Audi A3 Cabriolet, which is now available to order.
Audi says the new model offers a bigger cabin and boot than its predecessor and is also lighter.
A four-seat soft top convertible, this car’s roof is fully automatic and opens in less than 18 seconds at speeds of up to 50kph.
The car is available in three trim levels – entry level, SE and S-Line.
The fully automatic hood, air conditioning, Bluetooth, Audi Music Interface iPod connection and 16in alloy wheels are among the standard features in the entry level model.
Meanwhile, move up to the SE version (€1.350 extra) and you also get cruise control, rear parking sensors and leather-like upholstery.
The top of the range S-Line features include a sports steering wheel, part leather interior and 18-inch alloys.
A choice of two TFSI petrol engines and one TDI diesel are available from launch, with further engine options from February.
Both six-speed manual and seven-speed S-Tronic automatic transmissions are available.
Audi expects that the 1.6TDI 110bhp will be the most popular with Irish drivers. This will be available to order from next month. With 99g CO2/km, it will fall into the €180 annual tax band.
Meanwhile, petrol aficionados will be happy to hear the 1.4 TFSI 140PS petrol falls into the €200 tax band.
It powers the soft top to 100kph in 9.1 seconds and carries the Audi Cylinder-on-Demand technology also found in its A3 Saloon counterpart.
The car has a top speed of 222kph.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet is available to order now, for March delivery. Prices start from €36,710.
