Ford is promising ‘big car quality’ in the new Ford Fiesta, which arrives in Ireland in the coming weeks

Ford has released the Irish specifications for the new Ford Fiesta, which arrives here next month.

It believes the new Fiesta offers ‘large car quality in a small car’ and is designed to ‘exceed the highest expectations of customers downsizing from larger vehicles’.

Three versions of the new Ford Fiesta will be available in Ireland – Fiesta, Fiesta Zetec and Fiesta Titanium.

Standard features in the entry level model include daytime running lights, electric one touch windows, USB and Aux ports, hill launch assist, electric heated mirrors and central locking.

Meanwhile, move up to the Zetec spec and you add leather steering wheel and remote audio controls, front fog lights, trip computer and Ford’s innovative new MyKey system as standard.

MyKey is aimed mainly at parents of young drivers and it allows them to programme the key with a specific upper speed. It can also programme the speaker output from the audio system and can disable the audio system totally if seat belts haven’t been fastened.

Active City Stop, which brings the car to a halt if it detects a low speed collision is imminent, and Ford’s SYNC in-car connectivity system are also available in the new Ford Fiesta.

Five petrol and diesel engine options will be available, ranging from a 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol 65PS to a 1.6-litre 105PS Auto and all bar the Auto fall into the current road tax Band A.

Managing director of Ford Ireland, Eddie Murphy said: ‘New Fiesta is a great mix of style, technology and fuel efficiency that I am sure will appeal to the tech savvy generation.’

Prices for the new Ford Fiesta will start from €15,550.
