Sportier, more spacious and more fuel efficient that its predecessor, the new Audi A3 Sportback will launch in Ireland in February.

Promising improved quality, driver appeal, infotainment and driver assistance technology, Audi says four more-efficient engines will be available at launch.

    These are a 1.4 TFSI 122BHP and 1.8 TFSI 180BHP petrol and 1.6TDI 105BHP and 2.0 TDI 150BHP diesel versions.

A 1.2 TFSI 105 petrol version will follow in April.

The 1.8-litre petrol engine comes with a seven-speed S-tronic twin-clutch transmission; while the 1.4-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel come with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Audi says the 1.6-litre TDI engine is the most fuel efficient engine in its class. All of the launch engines drive the front wheels, with quattro permanent all wheel drive to follow later in 2013.

The interior of the new Audi A3 Sportback has been completely redesigned and standard equipment includes Bluetooth, air conditioning, driver information system, MMI Radio with retractable monitor and leather multifunction steering wheel.

However, go for the SE grade, for an extra €1,000, and you get cruise control, park assist, Audi Music Interface and half leather/cloth upholstery as standard.

High performance driver assistance systems such as radar assisted cruise control, active lane assist, park assist and traffic sign detection will also be available.

Managing director of Audi Ireland, Andrew Doyle said: ‘[The Audi A3 Sportback] has been designed with Audi benchmark quality to meet the sophisticated demands of our customers and we are confident this all-new model will be very well received by new and existing customers.”

On the road prices for the new Audi A3 Sportback, which will be available to order from early December, start from €26,900.
