Topaz is offering free coffee to motorists travelling today on a bank holiday trip as part of its Driver Reviver campaign.
Run in association with the Road Safety Authority, the offer is available on bank holiday Fridays at more than 100 participating outlets across the country.
Topaz reckons it will give away up to 10,000 free coffees as part of the campaign.
Driver fatigue is believed to be a contributory factor in up to 20 per cent of deaths on Irish roads and tired drivers are advised to pull over, get a coffee and have a short nap before continuing on their way.
Topaz Marketing and Corporate Services director, Paul Candon said: ‘This is part of our ongoing campaign to raise awareness of driver fatigue and to make our roads safer over the upcoming weekend.
‘All drivers have to do is show their car keys to staff and request a free coffee on Friday, August 3.’
Participating stations will have posters outside the premises.
