16 vie for Irish Car of the Year 2014 title

Sixteen models have been shortlisted for the Continental Irish Car of the Year 2014, with Peugeot, Toyota and Volkswagen each having two contenders.
The final 16 was whittled down by the voting members of the Irish Motoring Writers’ Association from a longlist of 51.
Tom Dennigan of sponsors Continental Tyres Ireland said: ‘As a snapshot of the range of excellent cars available to Irish motorists, this year’s shortlist for the title has it all, from interesting and exciting new concepts to revisions of familiar old favourites.’
Meanwhile, IMWA chairman, Gerry Murphy said this year’s shortlist is ‘the most exciting for a number of years’.
The BMW 3 Series was the winner of the Continental Irish Car of the Year 2013 award. Its successor will be announced on November 21.
