Jaguar has finally unveiled its F-Type, the all new two-seater sports car.

Stunning performance and ‘pure dynamic driving reward’ is what Jaguar promises from this front-engined, rear-wheel drive convertible.

    The new Jaguar will be available in three models – F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S.

The F-Type and F-Type S will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine, putting out 340PS and 380PS, respectively.

    The F-Type has a top speed of 259kph, going from 0-100kph in 5.3seconds. The F-Type S, meanwhile, has a top speed of 275kph, reaching 100kph in 4.9seconds.

And the top of the range F-Type V8 S will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine which puts out 495PS. With a top speed of 300kph, it can accelerate from 0-100kph in 4.3seconds.

Jaguar has taken inspiration from the interior of fighter airplanes in designing the cockpit of the F-Type with the controls grouped by function. A joystick-shaped SportShift selector controls the eight speed transmission.

Jaguar Vehicle Line Director, Ian Hoban said: ‘With the F-Type, the Jaguar engineering team focused on delivering greater dynamic driving reward than ever before.

‘To make that a reality, every engineer has had very tough targets to hit: every one of those targets has been met and, in many cases, exceeded, making the F-Type a car that delivers precisely the key sporting attributes that we intended.’

Jaguar Global Brand Director, Adrian Hallmark, added: ‘The F-Type isn’t designed to be like anyone else’s sports car. It’s a Jaguar sports car – ultra-precise, powerful, sensual and, most of all, it feels alive.’

The Jaguar F-Type was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The car is expected to be available in Ireland next spring, with prices to be announced closer to that time.
