Mercedes-Benz E300 hybrid on the way

The wait is nearly over for the Irish launch of what Mercedes-Benz is calling ‘the world’s most economical luxury-class model’, the new Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTec Hybrid.
Mercedes-Benz expects to have it in Ireland ‘within weeks’.
Available in both saloon and estate models, the E300 Hybrid has a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which puts out 204bhp.
It offers fuel consumption of 4.2litres/100km and emissions of 109g CO2/km, putting it in tax band A.
Sales manager for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, Ciaran Allen said the E300 ‘heralds the beginning of a new era in hybrid drive systems’.
He added: ‘‘With no restrictions in terms of spaciousness, comfort and safety, it exhibits impressive efficiency that will appeal to a significant section of the Irish motor market’.
Prices for the Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTec Hybrid in Ireland have yet to be announced but are expected to start from around €52,000.
