Opel has announced an autumn date for the Irish launch of its new Astra Saloon.
Joining the hatchback, Sports Tourer and GTC coupe, the 4-door saloon will complete the Astra line up.
Six engine types will initially be on offer in Ireland – three petrol units – 1.4 turbo (140hp), 1.6i six-speed automatic (115hp), 1.4i (100hp) and three diesel engines ranging from 95hp to 130hp.
With a spacious interior, the new Opel Astra saloon also features a large boot, 90l bigger than the hatchback.
The new Astra Saloon, which is aimed at motorists with high expectations, offers a choice of three driving modes – Standard, the comfort oriented Tour mode and the more responsive Sport mode.
Mark Adams, vice president of design, said: ‘We believe that the Astra four-door saloon we’re now launching is the best proportioned and most stylish saloon currently available in the compact segment.’
Dave Sheeran, managing director of Opel Ireland, added: ‘This new Astra represents a massive opportunity for Opel in Ireland, where there is considerable demand for compact saloons. It’s a stylish, more affordable solution to many four-door saloons in the mid-size segment.’
The new Opel Astra Saloon launches in Ireland in September. Prices will be announced later.
