The all new Seat Leon is due to launch in Ireland in February 2013, with prices starting from less than€20,000.

Seat reckons it has brought ‘enjoyneering’ to a new level with its all new Seat Leon, which is pencilled in for a February launch date in Ireland.

Completely redesigned from the ground up, the new Leon promises to be a mid-size model that’s full of high-end technologies – in its chassis, drive, driving assistance systems and infotainment.

Although 5cm shorter than its predecessor, the new Leon manages to offer a more spacious cabin and boot area.

Seat is also proud of the interior of the new Leon, which it describes as having ‘a clear, light and uncluttered look’.

The dashboard, it says, is ‘unconventional and elegant, with a two-tone design that makes it appear to float in mid-air’.

Seat believes the interior of the all new Seat Leon is as good, if not better, than higher segments

Head of Seat Design, Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos said the company aimed to develop an interior that would ‘give an expressive, elegant and welcoming ambience’.

He added: ‘The quality of the material, the fit and finish and the attention to details is at least as good as you can find in the segment above.

‘The design of the dashboard respects our new interior philosophy, with a strong driver orientation. This enhances the ergonomics while giving the design an attractive, sporty feeling.’

Driver assists such as drowsiness detection, full beam assist and lane keeping assist will also be available.

The new Seat Leon will initially be available in Ireland as a five door, and will be offered with a choice of powerful and fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines, ranging from a 1.2l to a 2.0l. FR versions will also be available.

Pointing towards its lightweight design and low CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, Vice President of Research and Development for Seat, Dr Matthias Rabe said: ‘The new Leon provides emotional driving fun, excellent efficiency, a stunning design and a high degree of utility.’

Seat President, James Muir added: ‘With the all-new Leon, we have designed and developed a car which perfectly captures the meaning of Enjoyneering.

‘This compelling mix of design, technology, athletic performance and premium quality is certain to seduce existing customers, as well as bringing a new generation of car-buyers to the brand.’

We at ATL loved the current Seat Leon so we’re looking forward to see what this ‘precisely executed sculpture on wheels’ has to offer.

Full pricing and specs for the new Seat Leon will be announced closer to launch, but prices are expected to start from less than €20,000.
