The new Nissan Note has arrived in Ireland and will be available to test drive from October 4.

Nissan is squaring up to the Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, Renault Clio and Volkswagen Polo with the new Note.

Three trim levels – XE, SV and SVE – and a choice of three engines are available.

Standard features on the entry level Nissan Note XE include cruise control, Bluetooth/USB port, CD player, electric front windows, tyre pressure monitor, central locking and start/stop technology.

Meanwhile, move up a level to SV and you also get manual air conditioning, steering wheel mounted controls, and electric rear windows.

The top of the range SVE trim offers automatic air conditioning, around view monitor, which gives a 360 degree bird’s eye view when parking, part leather trim, and automatic lights and wipers.

Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Warning as well as Moving Object Detection are also available on the new Nissan Note.

The engine types available are a 1.2 litre 80hp petrol, 1.2 litre 98 HP DIG-S petrol and a 1.5 litre 90 HP dCi diesel. Both of the latter engines attract annual road tax of €180.

Nissan is planning to launch six new main models over an 18 month period, with a brand new Nissan Qashqai and Nissan X-Trail along with a yet to be announced new hatchback joining the new Nissan Micra and the Note by the end of 2014.

Prices for the new Nissan Note start from €15,995.
