Opel has added a front wheel drive variant to the Opel Insignia Country Tourer model.

The German car maker describes the Insignia Country Tourer as an ‘athletic all-rounder’ with higher ground clearance ‘providing freedom beyond urban roads’.

Meanwhile, its says the all-wheel drive model offers grip and ‘sure-footed handling’ in all conditions.

Both variants are driven by a 2-litre 163hp turbo diesel engine, and are available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The front wheel drive model is more economical than its all-wheel drive counterpart, with fuel consumption of 4.5l/100km and emissions of 119g/km, putting it in the €200 annual road tax bracket.

Specifications include an 8in touch screen infotainment unit, IntelliLink with voice recognition and Bluetooth, and parking sensors.

The Opel Insignia Country Tourer is available now, with prices starting from €35,495.
