Scrapattoni sales boost hope for Renault

The Renault Clio Expression is one of the cars available under the June scrappage deal

Renault has announced details of a new scrappage offer for this month.

Under the Scrapattoni June Deal, customers who buy a new Renault car and trade in their eight years or older vehicle will get an extra €1,500 on top of the current offer plus a five years unlimited mileage warranty.

Customers also can avail of 0% APR finance offers from Renault Finance this month.

Renault is no newcomer to the scrappage deal, having pioneered it in 2009. Under the current deal, customers will be able to buy the top selling city car, the Renault Clio Expression from €10,490.

Managing director for Renault Ireland, Eric Basset said: ‘Scrappage worked for the motor industry in Ireland…If the Government won’t bring it back then it’s up to us to bring scrappage back.’

The Renault deal comes as figures released last week by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry showed an 18 per cent decrease in new car sales in May, compared to the same month last year.
