Skoda Rapid has families in its sights

The new Skoda Rapid is expected to be available in Ireland at the end of 2012
Skoda reckons it has developed ‘the right car at the right time’ for the price-conscious family market with the introduction of its new compact saloon, the Rapid.
Sitting between the Fabia and the Octavia, the Rapid is aimed at families looking for a spacious first car.
Following hot on the heels of the Citigo, the new compact will fully feature the marque’s new design.
Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland said: ‘This is a model which sets benchmarks in the compact saloon segment. The Skoda Rapid is a roomy, elegant and an affordable car for the whole family, impressing with clever solutions, cutting-edge technology and excellent economy.
‘In short, it is a comfortable, reasonably priced and environmentally friendly package. The right car at the right time.’
Five petrol and one diesel engine will be on offer when the Rapid launches in Ireland in early winter.
Prices and specs will be announced closer to the launch date.
